The Stephen Glass of Baghdad?

Michael Goldfarb of the Weekly Standard finds the anecdotes in this week’s New Republic diarist (subscription required) by a pseudonymous American soldier more than a little suspicious — making fun of a woman horribly scarred by an IED, soldiers discovering a Saddam-era grave with children in it and wearing a half-skull as though it were a crown, and a soldier using a Bradley fighting vehicle to kill dogs. (Goldfarb points out that driving a Bradley erratically in this way would be “likely to greatly increase a vehicle’s exposure to roadside bombs.”) He’s putting a call out to military bloggers and Americans in Baghdad to fact-check the piece’s contentions. NOTE: Tom Smith, working off a tip from Greg Pollowitz, took note of the suspicious nature of this piece last night in The Tank.
