The Corner

In Steyn’s Corner

I am very happy to join Stanley’s defense committee for Mark who is being falsely accused of something that shouldn’t be an offense anyway–namely, criticism of Islam. But should we and Mark remain entirely on the defensive here? The legal attacks on Mark are ludicrous and therefore frivolous. In responding to such attacks, shouldn’t the victim (with the help of friends) counter-sue so that the attackers face at least the prospect of paying out fines for wasting everyone’s time and money with a frivolous lawsuit? Can the lawyers weigh in on why this so rarely happens today? And is there some way we can change the balance to ensure that it happens more often?
