Stop Writing These Dumb Headlines

One of the irritating clichés of modern journalism is the “Stop [Doing X]” headline.

Dahlia Lithwick’s column today bears the inexplicable headline, “Stop Assuming Republican Senators Will Do the Right Thing.”

I don’t think that is a thing that people assume.

I do not know anybody who assumes Republican senators will do the right thing in any context—Republican senators least of all.
