Apparently Kelly, Gabby Giffords’s husband, is in the process of purchasing an AR-15 despite publicly supporting an assault-weapons ban. While Kelly says it’s a stunt to show how easy these guns are to buy, he chose a secondhand rifle, which requires a 20-day waiting period, while a new one would not. In an interview with Wolf Blitzer, Kelly claimed to have “demonstrated” the ease of procuring an assault weapon, but in fact he has not completed the background check or the waiting period.
The entire situation is bizarre, to say the least.
