Rich,

I couldn’t agree with you more.

The best thing President Bush could do now is to very publicly start the process of restoring the military at least to its 1990 force levels, and explicitly defining our new mission in Iraq as providing security for peaceful citizens of that unfortunate country, and pursuing and destroying our enemies.

There are two places in the world where large numbers of Muslims have taken a public stand against Islamofascism – Iraq and Afghanistan. These Muslims are a tremendous resource for the future, and must not be abandoned. And these two countries are still the best venue for us to concentrate our enemies and kill them.

To admit that Plan 1 has failed is no dishonor – so long as Plan 2 is pursued with equal ardor, and a determination to win no matter how many plans are required.
