Subject: More On The Refugee Front in Houston

E-mail:

More on the Houston charity front: this is off the radar, but I suspect that this sort of thing is happening all around the city. My aunt showed up at the Astrodome to pitch in; she was turned away, because she’s not a Red-Cross worker. As she was leaving, she saw a family in the car, the mother of which was in hysterics. It seems that her family just showed up in Houston, with no place to go—and weren’t allowed into the Astrodome (another friend told me that there was a long traffic jam of people outside the Astrodome who drove to Houston to try to get in yesterday.). My aunt brought the family home, and within a few hours, neighbors had taken in all 24 of them. A lot of things like this are happening all over the place.
