The Sun Clarifies

I’m not the Mobutu Sese Seko Kuku Ngbendu waza Banga I’d hoped, but I did get this nice note from the Sun:

Jonah,

I saw your comments about the headline switch on Susan Reimer’s column. While you are truly a media power to behold, in this case the explanation for the switch was something simpler.

When stories — especially columns — come over in the automatic feed to the web site overnight, sometimes the headline from the jump page gets incorrectly inserted as the main headline. The first headline (“In a grassroots movement, moms of all political persuasions organize to oust Bush”) ran today on page 5E, and spanned all six columns. The main headline (“Moms with a goal: unseat Bush”) spans two columns on the “Today” section front, 1E.

An online producer here noticed it and fixed it this morning.
