Syria: What Else Can Be Done?

Calling on Syrian dictator Bashar Assad to step down and imposing some new sanctions is not enough. In The Hill FDD’s Mark Dubowitz writes on additional measures necessary to speed the Bashar’s departure:

The key is to use the possibility of U.S. extraterritorial action to get our allies onside. A letter yesterday to President Obama signed by a long list of national security and sanctions experts, lays out a number of specific recommendations.

In the letter, ten specific measures are proposed. You’ll note several leading Syrian dissidents-in- exile among the signers, including Ammar Abdulhamid, Bassam Bitar, Hussain Abdul-Hussain and Amr Al-Azm. Also, Fouad Ajami has just added his name.
