The Corner

Take II

Over the weekend, I was catching up on my Corner reading, and I enjoyed a joke told by Mark Steyn (a joke told in a very grim context, to be sure). (That Corner item is here.) The joke concerns the holdup, or mugging, in Northern Ireland.

I learned a slightly different version, which I share with you here: A man is walking through Belfast in the dead of night, when he feels a gun at his back. A voice behind him says, “Catholic or Protestant?” The man, quick-thinking, stammers, “Um, neither: I’m a Jew.” The voice behind him says, with astonished delight, “I must be the luckiest Arab in all of Northern Ireland!”
