A Tale from Our Culture

Impromptus today is the usual variety, including a note on the worst of subjects, or one of them: genocide. I say a little about the use of the term, and the misuse. A reader has written to say,

“A couple of years ago, when my son was a sophomore in high school, he received an assignment to come up with ‘three examples of American genocide.’”

Gee. Only three?

P.S. My essay in the current National Review is called “The Even-Steven Temptation: Adventures in moral equivalence.” Our reader’s story would fit right in.
