The Corner

I’m hearing that two about-to-be-released polls will show Republican congressman Richard Burr leading Democrat Erskine Bowles in the North Carolina Senate race, by a couple of points. All year long, Bowles (a much improved candidate from 2002) has led Burr, sometimes by 10 points or so. Burr has really closed the gap in the last month. The race remains a tossup, but all the momentum right now appears to be in Burr’s direction.
