TARP

Michele Bachmann said she fought fellow Republicans who wanted to implement TARP in 2008. “I fought behind closed doors against my own party on TARP. It was a wrong vote then,” the congress woman said. “Sometimes you have to take principle over your party.”

Herman Cain said he supported the initial plan, but didn’t like how it had been implemented, with the government picking winners and losers “on a discretionary basis.”

“We should not be selecting winners and losers,” he said, and added that he doesn’t “believe in this concept of too big to fail.”

Rick Santorum went straight to the point: “We should not have had TARP. We should not have had the auto bailout.”
