Tax Deal Clears Cloture Hurdle in Senate

Though the vote will remain open for some time, the Obama-McConnell tax deal has reached cloture in the Senate, with a current tally of 62 votes in favor of ending debate and seven against. A vote on final passage could come as early as tonight.

UPDATE: The vote is now 79-10 in favor.
