Of all the questions that have been asked about Ted Cruz, a reader asked me one I hadn’t heard before:
“How does he plan to deal with the triggering nature of his surname? If we cannot mention the word ‘crusade’ without alienating the world’s 1.6 billion Muslims, what will happen when we have a president named ‘Cross’?”
It hasn’t hurt Penelope’s career so far. But a President Cross, or Cruz? Well, we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.
(Cross the Rubio? “Christie” is a little “triggering” too. And don’t forget “Paul”! Actually, the most inflammatory name — and a noble one — is probably “Bush.”)
