I have lots of friends, colleagues and even a paycheck signer on the Telegraph’s list, and many deservedly so. But, I think someone needs to say, the list is really pretty stupid, particularly when you use the Telegraph’s own criteria. They say that future influence is weighted more heavily than past accomplishments. Fair enough. So why is Michael Savage is sandwiched between Tom Sowell and Antonin Scalia. Does anyone think Scalia’s influence over the next decade or century is even remotely comparable to Savage’s? Meanwhile, Rick Santorum — good and wise guy though he is — is some 15 places more influential than all three of those guys. And Bill O’Reilly is some 40 places less influential than Santorum and some 20 places less influential than Savage. Oh and Larry Craig — who has no power, no committee seats, is a lame duck in the minority party is ranked as the 89th, just four spots behind Clarence Thomas. ‘Nuff said.
