Tenn. Primary Challenger Shares Why She’s Ready for Washington

Brenda Lenard has a tall task taking on two-term Tennessee Republican senator Lamar Alexander, but she’s up for it. Currently completing her Ph.D. at the University of Tennessee, Lenard told National Review that after seeing Washington’s failures to address the nation’s worsening fiscal situation, she decided the Senate needed “a different voice” and jumped in to the race.

The primary challenger aligned herself with tea-party favorites such as Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, and Mike Lee, and hopes to follow in their footsteps in changing the dynamic of the Senate.
