No Columbo Needed in Columbus Machete Attack

A man wielding a machete injured four people at a restaurant in Columbus, Ohio, on Thursday night before being shot dead by police, but authorities say that, while they are investigating the incident as a potential “lone wolf” terrorist attack, the assailant’s motive is “unclear.”

Perhaps I can help with that:

Investigators are trying to determine if the Nazareth Restaurant & Deli was chosen under the mistaken belief the restaurant had a Jewish owner, sources told CNN.

The owner told The Columbus Dispatch newspaper that the attacker came in half an hour before the incident and asked about him. The owner is an Israeli Christian-Arab. . . .

Columbus police identified the slain suspect as Mohamed Barry, 30, of Columbus. He was a Somali native with a criminal history that includes a history of drug use, a law enforcement official told CNN.

Then again, maybe he just really hated the pastrami-on-rye.
