Democrats have been hopeful that the issues of abortion and gun control might help them in November, but there’s no sign of hope for Democrat Beto O’Rourke in a new poll of the Texas gubernatorial election. Bluprint Polling, a Democratic pollster, finds O’Rourke trailing Republican governor Greg Abbott by 19 points — 37 percent to 56 percent — in a survey conducted June 8 to June 10. That’s the widest lead Abbott has held in any poll this year. The RealClearPolitics average of polls currently shows Abbott seven points ahead of O’Rourke.
