“Thank You!”

From a reader:

Hey Jonah, I have said, since seeing it on a date in high school, that “Nothing But Trouble” was the worst movie ever.  There are worse films (particularly of the MSTK3000 variety), but what elevates (as it were) “Nothing But Trouble” are the huge backing and star-studded comedy cast.  It also threw Digital Underground back into obscurity and relegated them to the occasional royalty check for “Humpty Dance”.  It probably gave my cat cancer for all I know, too. Shameful.   That was also the last date I went on with that particular girl.  I couldn’t blame her – the idea to go to the movie was mine.   It also reminds me of a bit Bruce Campbell (of “Evil Dead” fame) does on his speaking tours.

“Say I come to you with a pitch.  I’ve got a script, written by the author of Jurassic Park, adapted by the Academy-award winning screenwriter of “Moonstruck”, and backed by the producers of the Jurassic Park film.  We’ve got Jerry Goldsmith for the score, and it is going to be helmed by an Academy Award multi-nominated producer and director.  Do you give me the money?  Yeah?  Congratulations, you just made ‘Congo’.”   That does not forgive “Nothing But Trouble”, but it does explain it a bit.
