The Costly Folly of Student-Debt Forgiveness

Bravo to American Enterprise Institute for tracking the exploding cost of the federal government’s forgiveness of students’ college debt. As we see here, the total is now almost $256 billion and rapidly rising.

College has been turned into a new entitlement program, and the cost is going to be enormous. The political class is happy to dispense goodies now and worry about the fiscal consequences later. They’ve been doing that for many years, but “later” is now just around the corner.
