CNN anchor Don Lemon will undergo “formal training, as well as continuing to ‘listen and learn,’” according to the media company’s CEO, Chris Licht. This is after Lemon said that Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley “isn’t in her prime,” since women are apparently in their prime in their 20s, 30s, and maybe their 40s.
I seem to recall that when Rick Santorum made inartful comments about Native Americans, Lemon wanted CNN to fire him (which CNN did). I suppose it’s just as well for Lemon, then, that a double standard is being applied here.
To be sure, Lemon’s remarks conflating sexual and political prime were cringeworthy. But so is “formal training” in political correctness.
