The Greediest Institutions

No, not businesses — governments.

That point is made very nicely in this post on Power Line by John Hinderaker, discussing the latest jobs report from the feds. We’re being told that the economy is robust, that Bidenomics is working, because a large number of people have recently found employment. Hurray! Things are great. Keep the good times rolling with Kamala.

Hinderaker looks into the numbers and sees that many of the new hires are only part-timers, indicating that people have to take second jobs to make ends meet these days, and also that most of the rest are government employees. They get paid to do stuff, but they don’t add much of anything to the output of goods and services.

I tip my hat to Hinderaker for this conclusion: “Governments are the greediest institutions in our society. The fact that greedy governments are sucking up ever more resources, and hiring ever more like-minded employees, is nothing for the rest of us to celebrate.”

Exactly. Governments suck up resources that would otherwise find useful employment and then the manipulators tell us that we’re lucky to have it so good.
