The Left used to pretend to care about academic freedom and open inquiry in our universities, but no longer. Since they have complete control almost everywhere, they use their influence to ensure that people they disapprove of don’t get college positions.
In a new report from the Goldwater Institute, we learn that the state universities in Arizona are committed to requiring “diversity statements” from applicants for faculty positions. Those statements make them declare and show how dedicated they are to the DEI agenda, which is thoroughly statist.
Arizona’s universities will be turning away top-flight teachers and researchers in favor of those who share the leftist worldview. A tragedy for students.
The Grand Canyon State should stop its plunge into the quicksand of leftism. Sadly, prospects for such a reversal don’t look good.
