Secretary of State Marco Rubio has aura.
That’s what Gen Z Republicans told National Review the other week at the Run Gen Z conference. (Aura is the Gen Z term for effortless charisma. The kids, in other words, like Rubio’s vibe.)
Although Vice President JD Vance is President Donald Trump’s heir apparent, the Gen Z Republicans we spoke with at the conference, all of whom are involved in politics, interested in becoming elected officials, or are already elected officials, favored Rubio. While it may be anecdata, there seems to be a growing sentiment that Rubio has less baggage and more wins under his belt than Vance.
Rubio is the competent adult in the room. And he has an endearing Trump-like quality that Gen Z loves: He’s meme-able without making himself the butt of a joke.
