It’s unfair to force a truck driver to pay a loan for someone who got a PhD in gender studies.
Taxpayers shouldn’t be footing the bill for student loan relief and Biden’s order isn’t constitutional.
If anything, universities handing out worthless degrees should be on the hook. pic.twitter.com/wZuH6GxPII

On the topic of student-loan forgiveness, I’m with Charlie Cooke, Dan Foster and everyone else who suddenly has a blurry appearance and lasers where their eyes should be. It’s a giveaway to the affluent, grotesquely accomplished with emergency powers related to the pandemic. I don’t want to hear from the “Biden Because Norms” crowd after this.
There could be a case for debt relief to some students. After all, it is obvious that government interference in the student-loan market itself has driven up the cost of colleges, and made student loans more predatory upon students. But such relief would have to be paired with dramatic structural reform of college-education funding in the United States.
DeSantis is right to press the fact that universities are creating worthless degrees. In fact it’s not just that they are putting out ideologized humanities majors; they are using the legal status of student debts as a way to colonize fields of knowledge that weren’t traditionally parts of college life, like turf management and landscaping. And worse, at the higher end, it’s not even the professors, but the proliferous “administrators” and endless deans who are the beneficiaries.
Tuition costs, and the socially pernicious uses to which that money is dedicated, are going to increase dramatically if students begin to price in periodic debt jubilees every time a Democrat wins the White House. What the Biden White House is doing is going to make the problem worse for future students.
