It’s fantastically ironic that you’d use Roddy Piper’s character to embody Reagan’s personal ideological crusade, because John Carpenter tried to savage Reagan with “They Live.” It contained the standard liberal flights from rational thought about the 80’s: Homelessness, conspiracies among the rich to get richer at the expense of the “little guy,” etc. etc.
Your use of the bubble gum quote (excellent, BTW) is like Limbaugh’s use of (Michael Moorite) Chrissie Hynde’s tune on his show.
Anyway, Piper’s acting, the fight scene with Keith David, the 80’s babe actress with the haunting eyes, a true classic no doubt. The corner deserves to have a minor “They Live” thread.
