A lot of the British media coverage of the disaster has displayed condescension about America’s race issues (I sometimes wonder if journalism schools or the BBC’s training program have a class on how to be smug). Thankfully, Alice Miles in The Times points out that Britain probably wouldn’t look too good on those grounds if, say, London flooded (as is quite possible).
