The Corner

Thomas Edsall

has an important article in the Washington Post about faith-based pork. Although I take Tim Graham’s point about Edsall’s use of labels, I think Grover Norquist’s warning at the end of the article is worth heeding: Government grants to religious charities run the risk of changing the nature of those charities. That’s why NR opposed the faith-based initiative–or at least the part of it that relies on direct grants, as opposed to vouchers or tax deductions.
