The Dutch Health Ministry is trying to ban tobacco smoking in coffee shops. “Coffee shop” is a Dutch euphemism for a place where marijuana is sold. The ruling Labor Party, and the opposition conservative liberals, socialists and greens all oppose the move.
In related news, the liberal Independent on Sunday newspaper in the UK has apologized for its 1997 campaign to decriminalize marijuana use.
