The White House is working to enact a wide array of federal regulations, many of which would weaken government rules aimed at protecting consumers and the environment, before President Bush leaves office in January.

Here’s another way of writing it:

The White House is working to enact a wide array of federal regulations, many of which would empower businesses and create jobs at a time of widespread economic anxiety, before President Bush leaves office in January.

But that’s not how R. Jeffrey Smith of the Post wrote it. Ho hum. Just another day in liberal media bias.
