Time has published its list of “the greatest and most influential records ever.” They’re going to hear some predictable complaints–why no Pink Floyd?–but this list is noteworthy for its lack of imagination. Just about every pick feels obligatory, with the possible exception of late-model entries by Pavement (interesting), Hole (geez o’Pete!), Lucinda Williams (classy), P.J. Harvey (yawn), and Kanye West (to justify this bit of silliness). Very little sense of adventure.
