Tocqueville and Georgetown

Lots of folks have heard of Princeton University’s Madison Program. Under the direction of Professor Robert George, the Madison program has brought another point of view to an elite, left-leaning university campus. Many critics of the academy see the Madison program as a model to emulate, and we are now beginning to see similar programs at other college campuses. The other day, I mentioned the newly established Alexander Hamilton Institute.

Another major development is the Tocqueville Forum at Georgetown University, which “seeks to advance the study of America’s founding principles and their roots in the Western philosophical and religious traditions.” For those in the DC area, here’s a list of events. Note the upcoming symposium on “Natural Rights, Constitutionalism, and the Law,” with Hadley Arkes, J. Budziszewski, and Charles Kesler.
