In New Jersey:
New Jersey Lt. Gov. Dale Caldwell has resigned just nine months into his term, following the release of an internal investigation. . . . The investigation began in May in response to an anonymous complaint, but it wasn’t until Sept. 4 that the New Jersey Globe first reported on its existence. What followed was a three-week limbo in which [Gov. Mikie] Sherrill would not confirm or deny that Caldwell was under investigation, with even normally well-informed state power brokers left in the dark.
The report . . . found that the lieutenant governor had made sexual remarks to subordinates, flirted with women at official functions, and attended events with unpaid guests in violation of state ethics policies. In one instance, the report stated, a staffer said the 66-year-old Caldwell had told her that women like herself were “looking for young sperm.” According to the report, Caldwell also encouraged a state official to hire an individual without disclosing that it was his girlfriend, another violation of the ethics code.
In Minnesota:
A Democratic mayor in Minnesota who described herself as a “MILF” is being sued by her own police chief over shocking sexual harassment and retaliation claims, court documents show. St. Paul Police Chief Axel Henry filed the lawsuit against Mayor Kaohly Her on Wednesday, accusing the city’s first female mayor of a slew of “inappropriate” encounters — including comparing the top cop’s penis size, touching his upper thigh during a budget meeting, making orgasm noises at the police department gym, and photoshopping officers’ faces onto “bodybuilders with prominent bulges in the crotch area.”
The disturbing allegations were revealed in the suit less than a week after the city of St. Paul released its summary of findings of a misconduct probe into Her and concluded that the mayor “engaged in offensive and inappropriate behavior,” but her actions didn’t substantiate sexual harassment or retaliation. . . .
