Attorney General Eric Holder testified before Congress on May 3, 2011, regarding Operation Fast and Furious. At that time, he was asked when he first knew about the program. He replied, “I’m not sure of the exact date, but I probably heard about Fast and Furious for the first time over the last few weeks.”
CNN’s John King reports, however, that in March 2011 you stated on CNN Español that you heard about Fast and Furious on the news, and that Eric Holder had known nothing about the Operation. Specifically, you said, “Eric Holder has — the attorney general has been very clear that he knew nothing about this [Fast and Furious]. We had assigned an I.G., inspector general, to investigate it.”
How did you know as early as March that Eric Holder knew nothing about Fast and Furious? Did you discuss it with him? If so, on what date? What specifically did you discuss? Were you the one who first told him about the operation? Who else was present?
Does it concern you that your attorney general purportedly knew nothing about the program? Does it concern you that you had to learn about the program from the news rather than from your attorney general?
When was the last time prior to May 3 that you discussed Fast and Furious with Eric Holder? What, specifically, was discussed?
