I see that Tony Curtis died last night. When I was a kid, I would confuse him and Tony Bennett (until I learned). I saw Tony Bennett last night — he was at Carnegie Hall’s season-opening concert, and I covered it. Handsome old coot — looks like a Roman emperor, or the father of one.
Bennett’s real name: Anthony Benedetto (meaning, “blessed one”). (Isn’t “Bennett” kind of a comedown?) (No offense to Bennetts — particularly Bill!) Tony Curtis’s real name: Bernard Schwartz. Okay, I’m off the entertainment beat . . .
