Toomey on Obama Dinner: Cordial, But Still No Specifics on Spending Cuts

After going to dinner with the president earlier this week, Pennsylvania senator Pat Toomey bemoaned that he still doesn’t know of any specific cuts from the administration to address the deficit. “I think probably the best you could give the president credit for would be some proposals to curb the rate of growth of some programs,” he told Fox News’s Bill O’Reilly last night. Toomey compared this situation — there are no plans of meaningful spending cuts and spending is increasing — with that of other countries that have failed to make cuts while running up massive deficits, saying “this has never ended well.”
