Why would the federal government be paying for swimming pools? This from the bill:
FY07 TTHUD (on House floor today) page 120 of the committee report for TTHUD: 34. $500,000 to the City of Banning, California for renovations to the city-owned pool.
Page 121 of the House FY07 TTHUD committee report: 41. $300,000 to the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center, California for construction, expansion, renovation, and build out of a multipurpose facility.
Both, as it happens, are in Appropriations Committe Chair Jerry Lewis’s district. A little generosity to his constituents at taxpayer expense?
