A Marine-guy e-mail:

I served in the Marine Air Wing in the 1990s at Cherry Point MCAS, North Carolina. When ever a hurricane approached, which was often, every plane on base, and limited crews were flown to Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. After the stormed passed they would fly back in a day or so. If military choppers of the entire Guld Coast did the same its a wonder so many were able to return as quick as they did. I have yet to hear anyone mention this.
