Is Trump Going to Rewrite the GOP View of Bush and Iraq?

If you subscribe to the Trump view that A) Bush could have prevented 9/11 and should have, but didn’t and B) Bush and his team knew there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, and lied about it because they wanted to launch the war anyway… wasn’t John Kerry the right choice in the 2004 election?

If you believe those things, weren’t Michael Moore, Code Pink, and Barack Obama right all long? If you concur with the Trump vision, wasn’t the Republican Party as a whole complicit in abominable warmongering and a shameful national outrage?

If you genuinely believe that, you would want Bush out of office, right?

For what it’s worth, in 2005, Trump told Bill O’Reilly he voted for Bush in the 2004 election. “I voted for Bush because I think he’s got certain things that are excellent, including a tax policy that’s excellent and going to prove to be excellent. But I am not a big fan of the war in Iraq, and I’ve let a lot of people know about it, and perhaps that’s being proven to be correct.”

But by 2008, after President Bush’s approval rating dropped into the cellar, Trump was calling Bush evil: “Bush has been so bad, maybe the worst president in the history of this country. He has been so incompetent, so bad, so evil, that I don’t think any Republican could have won.”

There’s been a lot of talk that with Trump’s criticism, the Republican Party is “exorcising” or coming to terms with the mistakes of Iraq War. Is that what this is? Or is it conceding that Michael Moore and the antiwar Left was right all along, and adopting their conspiratorial view of a sinister Bush administration?

(And how will we un-do the mistakes of the Iraq War while we’re “taking the oil fields” as Trump keeps urging?)
