Former president Donald Trump has announced that he has been indicted by the Biden Justice Department’s special counsel, Jack Smith.

Trump made the announcement on his Truth Social platform. The indictment was filed in Miami. The former president says he has been directed to surrender next Tuesday at 3 p.m. In an earlier post, I explained why the special counsel moved the criminal case to federal court in Florida, even though the grand-jury investigation had long been centered in Washington, D.C.

The former president’s post states:

The corrupt Biden Administration has informed my attorneys that I have been indicted, seemingly over the Boxes Hoax, even though Joe Biden has 1850 Boxes at the University of Delaware, additional Boxes in Chinatown, D.C., with even more Boxes at the University of Pennsylvania, and documents strewn all over his garage floor where he parks his Covette, and which is ”secured” by only a garage door that is paper thin, and open much of the time.

Observing that he never believed such a thing could happen to a former president, Trump adds, “I AM AN INNOCENT MAN!”

If the former president has been advised of the charges in the indictment, his posts do not describe them. For months, it has been evident that Smith has been contemplating charges that Trump violated the Espionage Act by mishandling national defense information, and that he obstructed the government’s investigation of those alleged violations.

I would expect that we’ll see the indictment on Friday. Presumably, it is still under seal.
