Trump Somewhat Reluctantly Reverses Hegseth on Livestream Execution

The president announced on Truth Social (of course) today that Fort Hood terrorist Nidal Malik Hasan “will die, as scheduled, by firing squad, but this event will not be streamed.”

Thanks be to God there will not be a livestream execution sponsored by the United States of America. Sometimes we do do the right thing. Whether we mean to or are overwhelmed by backlash.

Trump’s post said:

I think streaming the execution for all to see might have been a strong deterrent for the World to witness how America deals with Terrorists and SCUM like Hasan but, many very good and well meaning people would rather not watch him die, through streaming, or through any other visual device.

And:

The execution may be viewed in person by the immediate families of the victims, if they so choose. They deserve to witness JUSTICE! Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I’d like to think that Pete Hegseth’s announcement of the livestream with some sexy MAGA swagger will be a moment of reflection on who we are and what we are showing the world about our values, but given the way the reversal was announced, I am not holding my breath.

Still, this is a win for the culture of life over the culture of bloodlust.
