TV Wrap Up 1: 24

Thanks to all the airplane travel and the long weekend, I finally caught up on my TV viewing.

Let’s start with a favorite around here. I thought the finale of 24 was . . . disappointing. It seems obvious that it was a set-up for a special two-hour movie early next year. I guess that’s fine, but it felt more anti-climatic than climactic.

I also hope that this is the last season of 24 where the villains are a bunch of characters straight seemingly imagined out of Paris coffee-house paranoia or Strangelovian satire. The rest of Hollywood spins tales of about a bunch of evil military-industrial corporate fatcats and twisted “patriots” who use people of color as pawns and fall guys for their dastardly plutocratic schemes.
