‘Ukraine’

Alright, so here’s the deal: On Tuesday’s episode of The Editors, MBD, Noah, and I had an argument over U.S. funding for Ukraine that was eventually brought to a close for time. After the show was published, a lot of listeners said on social media and beyond that they’d like to have heard more, and I thought, “Well, I have my own podcast, so why not . . .?”

One thing led to another, and episode 59 of The Charles C. W. Cooke Podcast is just that: an extended debate about America’s involvement with Ukraine — both before and after Russia’s invasion. I gave both MBD and Noah the time to flesh out their arguments from the ground up, and then we all talked about the issues that arose from those positions. Among the extended topics we covered were whether Ukraine would be better off without us; what is and is not in America’s interest; what it would take for us to change our minds; and whether the post–World War II and/or post–Cold War settlement requires us to help or stay out.
