Take a Ride on a Unicorn

Today, our universities are Kafka-esque places — or are they Orwellian? — with “microaggressions,” “trigger warnings,” “safe spaces,” and the like. The chillen faint at the sight of “Trump” in chalk. (Well, I might give them that …)

Fed up? I have a pause for you, a pause that refreshes (to borrow a line). In Central America, there is a classical-liberal university. You drive in there and see “Adam Smith Plaza.” Really. And the university’s mission is “to teach and disseminate the ethical, legal, and economic principles of a society of free and responsible persons.” Really.

I begin a series on this remarkable place — a “unicorn of a university,” I call it — today.
