Unilever Taking Break from Social Media

Facebook and Twitter shares declined today after Unilever, the consumer-goods giant, announced it would halt advertising on those platforms until at least after the end of the year. The polarized political atmosphere in the United States, the company said, makes advertising on those services unattractive.

That makes sense: Unilever sells soap, and social media is filth, but not the kind of filth that can be cleaned up with soap.
