Thad McCotter, of guitar-strumming and Red Eye guest appearances fame, officially announced his presidential candidacy today in Michigan.
“Under stormy skies at #WAAM Freedom Fest, I announced 4 GOP nomination 4 President & wasn’t struck by lightning,” McCotter tweeted.
He becomes the third House member running, joining Michele Bachmann and Ron Paul.
On his new website, McCotter emphasizes five principles: “1. Our liberty is from God not the government; 2. Our sovereignty is in our souls not the soil; 3. Our security is from strength not surrender; 4. Our prosperity is from the private sector not the public sector; 5. Our truths are self-evident not relative.”
