Reds –
Amazing acting.
Great script.
Shot beautifully.
Useless?
Me: They took one of the most important intellectual events in two thousand years — and the fons et origo of the worst mass murder in human history — and made it a boring, allegedly romantic, love story.
I remember seeing Reds in the theater with my Dad. Poppa G knew a lot — a lot — about Communism and the American left’s love affair with same. Afterwords, I remember how disappointed he was. He expected it to make him mad. Instead it bored him. And that he could never forgive.
But I will say that Warren Beatty’s forehead was lit masterfully.
