Vacation Musings

Just back from a family road trip. A few observations:

  • Enough with naming things after living people. We drove on the Senator John Glenn Freeway to NASA’s John Glenn Research Center. And “George V. Voinovich Bicentennial Park”?
  • Spent 10 days in central and western Pennsylvania and northeastern Ohio and didn’t see or hear a single word of Spanish and all the menial work was done by Americans. How can that be? I thought these were Jobs Americans Won’t Do.
  • Maybe I’m projecting my own ambivalence, but no one seemed to give a flying fandango about the election. I saw all of two Obama bumper stickers and no McCain ones. It’s good to see that people in the real world have better things to think about.
