Iain, Mrs. T is, of course, right to praise Vaclav Klaus. Indeed, those comments of hers are well worth recalling when we contemplate these remarks made by the Czech president yesterday (and reported on Bloomberg News):
“I think we must be tough vis-à-vis the opponents, the adversaries including terrorists…On the other hand, it does not mean that negotiating is a priori wrong.’’ Chamberlain erred in what he agreed to, not in talking to Hitler, Klaus said.
And before critics jump on Klaus with shrill and shopworn cries of “Munich,” they should should take the time to remember from where Mr. Klaus hails. Czechs, I believe, know a thing or two about the meaning of Munich.
