Newsweek’s Jonathan Alter was channeling the Mark Foley consensus this morning on the Imus program. He wasn’t talking about Foley so much, but about his hatred for the conservative impact that “so-called values voters” and their alleged “monopoly” on virtue have had. Let’s hope that social conservatives hear kvetching like this and realize that the liberal media is begging, pleading, and cajoling every traditional conservative to stay home in a fit of pique.
The old motto should still hold for religious righties: annoy the libertine media. Show the impact of “values voters” again on issues like abortion and “gay marriage,” that their sexually omnivorous agenda is a political minus.
